The Shaikh and Disciple is a special collection of discourses spoken by His
Holiness, M. R. Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with Him) in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

These talks were originally given to a small group of individuals who had gathered from all corners of the globe, from the United States, Canada, Mexico, South Africa, England, Germany, Australia, and India.

They came to gain a greater understanding of the connection between man and God, and through the example and tutelage of a realized teacher.

This book describes the role and duty of such a teacher and serves as a gauge by which the disciple can measure his focus and progress on the path.

Originally spoken in Tamil, an ancient Dravidian language found in Southern India and Sri Lanka, these talks were spontaneously translated into English by Dr. and Mrs. Ganesan.  They were then transcribed and edited into book form.

All those who worked on this project humbly ask forgiveness for any loss of clarity or vitality in this transition from spoken to written word.

May God bless this venture and all those who read this book.  Amin.
